Pastors Roger and Cheryl Dean

Since August of 1992 Pastor Roger has served as the Senior Pastor at Church on the Rock. An ordained minister with the Assemblies of God he was raised in a nominally Christian home. At the age of 14 he was water baptized in the Ohio River at the little town of Bethlehem. However, he strayed from the church quickly and by the time he rededicated his life 14 years later he had been

living a party lifestyle and had been arrested numerous times. After rededicating to God he attended New Life Bible School in Cleveland TN. For several years he coordinated the singles ministry at First Assembly of God while taking Berean School of the Bible courses. It was at First Assembly where he met his wife Cheryl and they were wed in June 1993.

Pastor Cheryl, a licensed minister with the Assembly of God, was raised as a Catholic in the Erie, Pennsylvania area. She was saved during a move of God in her high school. She then joined a Chi Alpha group while attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated as a registered nurse. After practicing in Louisville, Kentucky she moved to Vevay Indiana when hired at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison Indiana. She currently works there part-time and serves as the Children’s Pastor at Church on the Rock.

Together they were blessed with two children, Daniel born November 1996 and Sarah born in July 1999.

Pastor Roger also serves as a member of the Credentials committee for the Assemblies of God in the southern portion of the state, as a ministry presbyter for the Assemblies in the S.E. area and as the President of the local South Ripley Ministerial Association.

Kids Church & Pre-Schoolers

Kids church is an exciting time of ministry provided for children ages 6 years old (1st grade) through 12 years old (sixth grade) The kids meet at 9AM on Sunday morning. With an upbeat style and relevant message the children are taught the truth of the scriptures with song, skits and teaching that is on their level.

Once a month they have a Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade with an emphasis on missions. Several times a year they have special events that add to the kid’s instruction and interest. These may include theme parties, children’s crusades with guest ministers and Vacation Bible School.

A Pre-School class also is provided for ages toddler through Kindergarten and they meet in the nursery at the church.

Rock Solid Youth Ministries: Pastor Dan and Heather May

Pastor Dan has been the Youth Pastor of Church on the Rock since September of 2001, and a certified minister with the Assemblies of God since 2005. Pastor Dan received Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was 12 years old while attending an independent Pentecostal church. He also graduated from the Christian school affiliated with that church in 1989.

During a nine year enlistment in the United States Air Force, Dan drifted away from his walk with the Lord and stopped attending church altogether. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in July 1998, he returned to the Versailles area and began attending Church on the Rock.

Shortly after that he rededicated his life to the Lord and eventually began serving in the church, first as an adult Sunday school leader and later as a Life Group leader. Pastor Dan was asked to take over as the Teen Cell Group leader in 2001 and later experienced the call of God on his life to become a Youth Pastor. Pastor Dan is currently a bi-vocational youth pastor and also works as a production supervisor at Mirrus Corp. in Versailles, IN .

Heather grew up in a Pentecostal home and accepted Christ at an early age. She was very involved in her youth group and other church activities during her childhood and felt the hand of God upon her to be involved in ministry. She was homeschooled for most of her high school career and married Pastor Dan right after graduation. They were married in December of 1992 and are the proud parents of Austin, born in September 1993 and Aly born in April of 1996.

Heather is very active in homeschooling both of her children as well as being an integral part of the youth ministry at Church on the Rock. She also sings with the church worship team and is the Co-leader of a local homeschool support group.
